Pulmonary stenosis due to external compression by a pericardial band.

چکیده

Extrinsic compression of the outflow tract of the right ventricle by a pericardial band has been described by Mounsey (1959) and later reported by other authors (McGaff et al., 1963; Portal et al., 1966; Weglicki et al., 1965). All, except the case presented by Weglicki et al., were patients who had undergone partial pericardiectomy some years before for constrictive pericarditis. This report presents a similar case in which surgical resection of the constrictive pericardial band abolished the previous gradient between the right ventricle and pulmonary artery.

Pulmonary artery stenosis due to external compression by a calcified pericardial band.

A 60-year-old male with exertional dyspnea was referred to our hospital. Right pulmonary artery stenosis due to external compression by a calcified band was diagnosed by echocardiography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. Percutaneous transluminal angioplasty was conducted in vain due to vascular recoil and failure of stent delivery. Pulmonary bypass grafting was performed su...

Localized constrictive pericarditis compressing and obstructing the right ventricular inflow tract due to a giant anterior calcified cardiac mass. A case report

INTRODUCTION Localized pericardial constriction is a rare form of constrictive pericarditis CP. Depending on the CP location, clinical presentation may be variable, including compression and obstruction of right ventricular inflow tract(RVIT), coronary obstruction, or pulmonary stenosis. CASE PRESENTATION A 72-year-old man presented a 2-year history of dyspnea and atrial fibrillation. A contr...

Pulmonary stenting for the treatment of sarcoid induced pulmonary vascular stenosis.

BACKGROUND The best treatment of patients with external pulmonary vascular compression due to advanced sarcoidosis is unknown. OBJECTIVES To report a single-center experience of percutaneous treatment for pulmonary vascular stenosis caused by external compression due to advanced sarcoidosis. METHODS We report a case series of 5 patients with biopsy confirmed advanced sarcoidosis, seen at ou...

Long-term follow-up of tracheoplasty using autologous pericardial patch and strips of costal cartilage.

OBJECTIVES To evaluate long-term results of tracheoplasty using autologous pericardial patch and strips of costal cartilage for relieving severe long-segment tracheal stenosis. METHODS Data were collected retrospectively by clinical chart review. Between 1995 and 2013, 21 patients underwent tracheoplasty. Follow-up was performed by outpatient chart review; otherwise, referring physicians and ...

Acquired pulmonary stenosis due to compression by a bronchiogenic cyst.

A case of pulmonary stenosis due to extrinsic compression of the pulmonary artery and right ventricular infundibulum is reported. It is believed that this is the first such case recorded in the English literature where the cause of the compression was a bronchiogenic cyst. Pulmonary stenosis due to compression of the right ventricular outflow tract by an extrinsic mass is an uncommon but well-d...
